I just got my 5 oz. white mountain quarter. I think it looks great. most people I talk to never have heard of it. I was wondering if anyone else had gotten theirs yet.

Got 2 of the bullion coins from APMEX yesterday, both are fabulous deep mirror proof likes, I doubt they had much time to cherry pick through the entire monster box if all of the coins looked the same, i.e. MS68DMPLs or MS69SMPLs. These coins weren't made in a hurry and the care shows. My collector puck is on its way and will be delivered Tuesday.

Bizy - reading elsewhere it sounds like most are seeing an improved quality across the board on these coins. Since you've been collecting them - is that a fair assessment?

Yes, that is a fair assessment, Doug58s. From the looks of the 2013 coins I received they look like first strike coins. They are a great improvement over the 2012 bullion. The bullion 2012s were on par with the bullion 2010s, of decent high quality, because not too many coins were churned out per die pair, whereas the first three bullion issues of 2011 were minted in a hurry, lots of coins with cartwheel luster like a true uncirculated coin made for circulation, and indicative of dies that were wearing out past their prime. So many coins were issued, however, there ought to be plenty of MS69DMPLs of all of the 2011, so they are not in any way scarce & should be the most affordable of the lot. But there are are great many 2011 ATB that are average and will always trade at spot, and will be the common coin of the series. I am guessing there will be more 2013s than 2012s but not nearly as close to the number of 2011s. It's a challenging series to collect if the collector is working on a DMPL set, some coins are harder to find than others, and the depth of the mirrored surface can vary from issue to issue. The crispest B&W DMs I have seen so far are Chickasaw and White Mountain. Perry, the next release should be interesting, as it has the largest amount of negative space of all released issues thus far. I would not be surprised if the final distribution total is around 25K for White Mtn. There are four additional releases for the year, and as bullion, the Mint is interested in selling coins to the APs based on demand, and not necessarily what's pictured on the reverse. To them a bullion coin is a bullion coin. I tend to favor whichever series of the latest coin I've just received, next week I'll sing a different tune, which is why I collect both. I tend to lean slightly more towards the bullion because it's always a surprise whereas with the collector uncirculated, I know exactly what to expect, making the entire set quite uniform and a stunning showpiece when they are displayed together.

Yep, I posted this picture in the huge "What if they stop minting the ATB 5 oz?" thread last week:
