Well, he said he started by selling the world gold, then moved on to the US coins.

Past sales: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...myworld=trueIf there is something amiss here, please explain it to me. I have no bid on it at present. Nor am I able to. That this little post got you all thinking in a reward to me. It looks good, and that is what I want advice on. Where did I go wrong?

Well he hasnt actually sold anything since 2011 which is a little odd. I personally would never buy a coin of that value raw or that coin raw especially since I would want something like that graded so it would just add extra cost to the coin, but I dont know the series well enough to comment if thats fake or not.

Matthew, it looks wonderful. I bow to those who know these coins, I would love one sometime for our collection but I SURE do not know what to look for on these. I have learned just by reading the posts on this. The head base which Rayman posted tells me something. The one on auction and the picture he posted do not look the same to me, regardless of the lighting differences. It also appears on the auction that there is less of a slant on the bottom. ?

Just a heads up... I saw on another thread that the earlydollars.org website I linked to (and that is a popular site for early dollar attribution) is infected with a trojan virus. I see that the mods or someone inactivated the link I posted somewhere on page 1 of this thread-- don't try to copy/paste it into your browser. It says that the coin was certified but the pictures were taken when it was raw. By who? I couldn't see spending this kind of money on a raw coin, too much temptation there.

For what it is worth ... Brad is one of my favorite dealers, and had this to say:
"WOW! Nice coin! The surfaces look nice and original to me. I call the coin a VG-10 at best even though he grades it fine. To grade fine the hairline must be complete. His asking price is reasonable. There is a big spread between VG and fine price. His asking price is between them. A PQ piece for sure."
SO, still sad to say, my pocket book cannot handle this coin at present. I will keep watching it. How I wish it could get it.

This is the two leaves? If so, Numismedia says it is worth $2910 at the VG8 grade. F-12 is $4380

The coin visually LOOKS good, but doesn't match any of the known reverses. So it is either a fake and worth little or nothing, or a new R-8 new reverse coin easily in the low five figures. An interesting conundrum.

Conder, what do you think of it being a BB-21 with a berry and a neck truncation loop missing? Or should the leaf go farther beyond the left upright of the M?

I don't know about the missing berry or the neck problem. But man that coin has eye appeal.

Looking forward to Steve Caruso's opinion on this.

Aye this *is* quite curious. I'm honestly not sure what to think, as the pairing seems problematic, but if it's a fake it's a darn good one. I must chew upon these images some more.
