That is a very tempting coin. I do not know the series, is this definitely the real deal? Very very tempted... Edited to add: I checked out PCGS Coin Facts to see how they graded various coins. WOW, all over the map! Really. Especially when you get down below the EF45 range. Some have incredible hair detail, some very worn, same grade. I've not seen such apparent wide discrepancies before. I hope there are many other factors not immediately observable (to me) which went into the grading, but wow. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinIm....aspx?s=6853After looking through the PCGS graded pictures and past sales on Heritage, I think this coin is likely to grade VG8-10, not Fine as the seller thinks. Still a pretty good deal if it goes for the entry bid, based on actual sales prices over the last few years (not book value). Lastly, what is the more specific variety type? I understand the 2 leaves vs 3 leaves, but what about other specifics? Any specialists out there care to assess? I don't have the books or references.

Anyone else having trouble assigning a variety to this? Seems to be the obverse used on BB-21 B-1, BB-22 B-10, and BB-23 B-16, but none of those two-leaf reverses fit. BB-21 B-1 comes close, but there looks like there's a berry missing on the right side of the wreath!

The simplicity of the design makes this my all time favorite US coin. Unfortunately, it's one I'll never own. If it's authentic and that's a fairly valued starting price, then sorry, there's no way I could say anything bad about it.

See what I mean? Can you spot the missing berry? First pic is the ebay coin, the second is BB-21 B-1. One of these things is not like the other!

If you're talking about between the tail feathers and the second "A" in AMERICA,I see 1 on the first image and 2 on the second.

Hmm. I was just about to post that I did an overlay of the obverses and it matched perfectly... guess I should've looked at the reverses too!
What do you make of this, philadelphian? Counterfeit?

Might be the lighting angle but I don't see the loop at the neck truncation. Should be present on "Head of 1795". Could be shadow? Reverse appears to match BB-21 less the missing berry. Head of 1795: Head of 1794: Seller:

I'm very suspicious of raw early dollars these days but this one looks perfectly real to me.only questionable thing I see is the denticles above the I and R in AMERICA on the reverse

I was wondering about the neck truncation myself.
