The White Mountain National Forest quarter is the 16th design in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. White Mountain National Forest is located mostly in New Hampshire, the rest in Maine. The area was first established as a national forest on May 16, 1918.

One of the nation's most popular national forests to visit, this site boasts unique landscapes, many sources of recreation, and rich natural resources. Its features include Mt. Washington, the highest peak north of the Smokey Mountains and east of the Mississippi River.

The quarter's design shows a popular view of Mt. Chocorua, the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range. The mountain and a nearby lake shore are framed by birch trees.

I like how the u.s.mint put the Birch trees in front and on the sides of the scenery,They make the coin stand out alot better.

I don't know if they released more of these in New England than anywhere else, but I have pull a roll and a half of these out of pocket change. 2x as many as any other ATB Quarter. Still only have one "D" minted quarter out of the whole series though.

I have gotten a few White Mts quarters in my change this month.
I guess they are pretty common here.
