Hi,

I first wish to point out that my uploaded photo is only a snippet of an on-line digital photo that I had no control whatsoever w/r/t the quality or magnification of the shot.

With that being said please opine on the whether or not this coin appears to be altered in any way.

If you saw this at an auction, for example, would you place a bid on it?

If so, at what point would you stop bidding?

Thanks,
mdpmedia

A coin like this photographed like that? I wouldn't bid on it at all. This is a 1914 D, which is one of the toughest to get (especially in decent grades). I can't tell if the coin is original or altered because the photo is that bad. And if I'm going to lay down 200+ on a coin, I have to see it, hold it, and look at it under at least 7x magnification. As I can do none of the prior on the coin above, no bid. Good luck either way!

With the poor quality of the picture, it's impossible to make any definitive judgement. I will say that it does appear the "1914" is larger than usual (e.g., could have been cropped into the picture). For that reason, I agree with Telestrat; there's no way you should layout big dollars.

Not sure if I'd even stop to look if the coin is as bad as the photo. Really need a better photo.

I would bid 1 USD.

You need a bigger picture and clearer.

It is not one of those lame altered 1944-d coins but
the coin has too high a value to risk without knowing what you have.

I agree with what the others said... It is a 1914 but the 'D' looks a bit to close to the date and, with the dark pics I would pass unless the owner wants to send you better pictures.
