ACID. It looks like it was a science experiment.

Looks like it was exposed to an acid bath.

What is the diameter of the coin? (A picture beside a normal penny would be helpful.) Also what is the weight of the coin?

This one looks interesting. How can an Acid bath make a coin thinner and not dissolve the details?

That's what I was thinking was acid. Whoever did it did a good job, but the back gives it away.

7TF it takes everything down evenly so the coin still has it's characteristics.

The detail is preserved because the metal is equally eroded throughout the coin. This coin will have a smaller diameter(notice that the rim is the first major design element to disappear) and will be lighter than a normal coin. The design is being dissolved(notice the thinning and blurring of the devices) but the fields are being equally dissolved as well so the effect is that the coin simply gets thinner while preserving most of the design.

It's bigger than a dime and smaller than a penny.

Ya it probably was in some sort of acid, all sides of the coin have been eaten away a little.

Seems to be a common find in circulation. Been discussed here and now most seem to know what it is. Good job everyone!
