Question for TBone: Are you selling the 1803 Half Dollar you have listed as one of your own using the ebay name of Blutosports, on ebay? 161038691818As a matter of fact, after a closer look, Blutosports seems to be selling a few of YOUR coins. This makes me wonder what's going on...

Quote: Anyway, here are some examples of coins that are featured on Coinfacts that I've already obtained and are now in my collection. Really? Instead of this being a unique direction you're taking your collection, what I now see is a thinly-veiled advertisement for your ebay sales. This does not make me happy.

I understand now. I misunderstood and thought your statement "...and are now in my collection..." meant that they were a long term part of your collection, not for resale. So I was surprised when I saw them later on ebay.

@ SsuperDdave, I really wasn't trying to advertise my ebay sales, only brought it up because someone asked about it. I use ebay as a way to potentially upgrade my coins, not so much to pocket the profit. If a coin doesn't sell it stays in my collection. If it sells I use the proceeds to either replace it or look for another coin that fits my interests. Isn't that a pretty common way for any of us to fund a collection? I'm sure many here only save up for a coin they want, purchase it and never plan to sell it. For me I try not to let myself get so in love with any of my coins that I just could never part with it. I think of it as my collection that I'm entertaining offers on at pretty much all times. I really in no way was trying to use this thread to promote my ebay sales, just to discuss the direction I'd recently taken on coins I'd want to look for. I guess what it comes down to is how we each define collection. For me my collection is fairly fluid. For others I guess it's pretty common to keep coins they are selling and coins they are keeping completely separate. I just don't do that yet at this point.

Sorry Tbone, but I too thought these were for YOUR collection. Part of what I LOVE on CCF is seeing what everyone collects and their stunning coins, and THAT is what provides me with motivation to enhance my sets, although my funds are more limited. It is disappointing to see what I believe are these very same coins just up for sale on 'Bay. I can assure you if I was fortunate enough to have the chance to obtain coins such as these, they would be mounted in my home, not just an album for me to drool over day after day. I can understand, I suppose if this is your business and source of income, but it would be difficult for me to "upgrade" and of these gorgeous coins.

I am a person who thinks of their collection as separate from the coins I would sell but the OP never mentioned the coins were for sale until he was asked directly. For the prices he is asking for the majority, I believe his explanation about how he views HIS collection is honest. If it ever came to it,there is only 1 coin (of many hundreds) that I wouldn't EVER part with from my collection. Nice coins Tbone.

Tbone, I've been looking through your ebay page and frankly it's amazing. I truly wish I could afford to obtain some of the coins you have for sale. I think I may not have truly understood what the original OP was about. You are still collecting? but just place what you have duplicates or lesser quality coins on your auctions? Is this correct? My point was only that if I was able to have coins such as these I wouldn't even be able to contemplate selling them. Obviously you do very well with your sales, the quality is fantastic and I looked through EVERY one you have up for sale over the last few hours. You've got astounding coins for sale, I wish I was able to purchase ALL of them. Good luck with them.

SsuperDdave- I actually prefer the first photo example of your 1887 Morgan. It looks more natural to me than the second example, which appears too enhanced. When I look at a Morgan dollar, my eye is going to see it the way photo #1 shows it. By the way, I would like opinions on this contraption for photographing coins. It is $100 LESS than the photo dome, but it is much larger. I don't really want to spend $170.00 on the photo dome, but I'm still considering it because of its compact size and iphone bracket. Anyway here is a link for the Light Diffuser Mini Photo Studio: http://www.ebay.com/itm/19075443157....m1423.l2649

Darth, that looks like a great set up. I think we will be trying one, the dome is a lot more and with the one you posted it appears that have changeable backgrounds which has been an issue with me going from silver to copper and the lighting differences. Thanks for that link!

grancap74, I sent you a PM with another link for a smaller and cheaper model. Please post pictures of your coins. I would like to see how they turn out. I'm trying to decide between this model and the Nimbus Cloud Dome, which is cheaper than the original cloud dome.

I can't wait to see those pics, Tbone! I'm leaning toward that model. If I go with it, I'll just need to buy some small LED light clips to add extra light if needed. The lightboxs by Sanoto look like they would be good too, but the light looks really bright. Here is the ebay link to one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/29092681077....m1423.l2649What do you think?
