Huh. Well, according to the Mint's tracking page my order (which I last received an email about telling me it would ship on August 9) is now backordered and expected to ship... last Friday.

What.

Mine is the same way. Mine is expected to ship on 07/19/13..... Still hasn't shipped and still has the option to cancel so I know they haven't shipped it yet. The real kicker is I just ordered a 5oz Perry Victory AND a 2013 proof ASE (that isn't shipping till 08\06) and they have already charged my card for it...

I just posted this in the other WP set thread... if you need more sets - go buy them - the mint has reopened the ordering on them.

huh?! What are they doing? Just blew their credibility out of the water, even if they had a ton of cancelations it goes against everything they put in writing.

This is why I cant stand the mint to demand order type. Nothing good comes from it at all, in an attempt to please a couple people they end up ticking off everyone. I already have my graded sets so I'm cancelling all my sets from the mint.

basebal - I am really on the fence with canceling my last day order now. What was posted over on the Mint News blog site indicates a call was made to the mint and they now deem the 30 day window as the 1st window to order. They apparently had an unexpected rash of cancellations (gee think shipping delays might have anything to do with it?), as well as a high number of returns they think are still good. I think this might backfire and they may lose a whole lot more orders due to cancellations of unfilled orders.

Doug - Its like 2012 all over again, you just have to assume something shady is going on with these things every year now. The 1st window thing is bad enough, but blatantly reshipping returns is just disgraceful. From how many mint sets I've had to return so far trying to just get 1 good one this year their definition of "good" is vastly different than the collectors definition. I would be lying if I didnt say I hope they get a ton of canceled orders now and this move completely backfires to send them a message not to try this stuff anymore.

This really isn't rocket science. They know who their big orderers are. Get in touch with the Silver Townes of the world and let them order before the ordering period and start minting those and have them done before the order period is open. Once the public can order you can ship those before the order period ends but not so early theyre shipping sets while people are still ordering so during the ordering period you can be working on everyone elses set and them them all shipped within a month.

I had an order left for 3 of the raw sets but they can kiss that good bye. I dont think Ill have any problem wanting to find one if I decide I want a raw set later on. I have all the OGP from the graded sets anyway so I could even just buy the coins and put it together myself.

Just called the mint after sending them an upset customer email

Should have called first. The 2013 west Point set is NOT still available for order. That is an error on the web site

wif99 - It sounds like it depends on who you reach at the mint. Over on the Mint News blog site someone else called and was told they are selling them again - in a 2nd window and even another poster indicates he ordered a set on the web. Should be an interesting explanation to come...
