Someone carefully engraved these symbols on a German crown (Bavarian 1814 Thaler).
It shows a cup (chalice?), a book (the Bible?),an eye (the All-Seeing Eye?), and an anchor.
Also, the words FAITH, HOPE, and CHARITY. all within a decorated border.

What person or group may have made this, and for what purpose?

Thank you,
Bill

Good sleuthing, amida! And also on a German coin; that can't be a coincidence... wonder if there's any such tradition in the German-American Lutheran community?

I'm wondering if this "love token" of sorts may have been a gift for one's first communion? The anchor can be equated with the cross. Another possibility that comes to mind is that this item may represent an individual's connection with some holy order like the Masons or Knights Templar for example?
