I found this coin in my spare change. I wish it was MS65 or better but I'm affraid it is AU58. I added a normal Susan B. Anthony dollar for comparison. The "Near Date" has a thicker rim and is a bit larger than the normal 1979-P.

I believe it still carries a premium though because it is not as common. In AU58 I'd say around $10 but that is just guessing. Hopefully someone else can come along and give a better answer.

Am I seeing something that is not there? The coin on the left looks to be smaller which makes the head/bust smaller then the coin on the right. Oh and which is the normal coin?

Mila,

It's called a Wide Rim (Near Date) & Narrow Rim (Far Date) error in the '79 SBA. a Wide Rim in MS-63 is booked at $20.00. Look at the thickness of the 2 rims next to the date.
