Hi all.

Since I don't have the literature needed to look up the varieties for the 1799 dollar, I did some matching online.

Is this a BB-152, B-15?

Any way I can tell which die state it's in?

Would it, if the variety is correct, bring a premium? I saw that it is one of only 3 irregular dates of the 1799.

It is currently hanging around in an ANACS VG10 slab, but would like to have the variety attributed, so thinking about sending it to NGC

thanks in advance

I agree on the B-15 attribution. The only reference I have on hand is Bolender. It is a later die state with several die cracks on the obverse, he called it B-15a. At the time the book was printed it was a scarcer variety with B-15 being listed as an R-5 and 15a as R-4. If you lump the two together its probably an R-4 or 4-. Probably not worth a premium as there aren't that many collectors of bust dollars by die variety and even with a rating of R-4 there are plenty available to go around.
