2007 'B' $1 Mintmark Different From The Others..?

coinmad New Member Australia 16 Posts	Posted 05/20/2007 11:47 pm G'day I was wondering if anyone has noticed that there is a difference between the 2007 $1 'S' (and 'C') mintmarks and the 'B' mintmark? I picked mine up last Friday and when I looked over them when I got home, I noticed that the right pilon (on the little version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge at the top of the reverse) has a little square dent in it. I thought it might be one off flaw, but noticed that all the 'B' mintmarks had it, including the Berlin World Coin Fair version. I am unable to scan the coin to such a fine level, but I would be interested in getting some feedback from others who may have noticed the same problem and from anyone who might be able to say why it has occurred. Yes all my three 'B' coins have the "dimple" and my 3 'S' coins do not. This could be a design change as it looks like a door on the side of the right pilon. You have Great eyes! toast Pillar of the Community Australia 1091 Posts	Posted 05/25/2007 08:34 am The Portable Press 'B' mintmarks DO NOT HAVE the door on the pilon. The Royal Australian Mint people at the Brisbane Coin Show didn't know about the difference either. Forum members had to point out the difference to them and a few coin dealers. Nevol Formerly nancyc Australia 5385 Posts	Posted 05/31/2007 5:41 pm There are a few 'B' MM SHB coins from the Portable Press that do have a small 'window' on the right pylon. I've got some & I think Brissyboy has also, so it's most likely that others will also have them. The size of the 'window' is not consistent. On the 'B' MM from the large press, it appears to be square, but on my PP ones it is more rounded. Report this Post to the Staff
