I'm gonna have to go AU55/58, but I am no pro with these, especially in higher grades like this.

Vince, Great Southern Coins is a master of photography to make coins look their best ... wish I had that skill. IMHO .... your 1934-D Peace dollar is a weakly struck AU coin ... worth at best $40 retail price. I would not incur the cost to submit this coin to any TPG. David

Thanks for the input, it is AU as suspected. This is not my coin, rather it is a friends coin who wanted it submitted to PCGS. I have bought from GSC once, and never will again. I sent it back for being so different from the pictures. This was the original auction, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1934-D-Peac...047675.l2557 As you can see, VERY different from the in hand pics! I won't be sending it anywhere except back to him. Thanks guys.

While I would love to meet the ansel adams behing Great Southern's Peace photos, I will have to say that I purchased recently a 24-s thinking it was a 62 or (hopefully 63 - not I was would have been suprised if it came back a 63), and PCGS agreed with me as a 62.
In conclusion, everyone makes their coins look as good as possible, but at least my coin was in no way fraudenlent.

they sure know how to use lighting and angle and on occasion photoshop. I've seen much worse examples of coverup from them than this. I pass right over any of their auctions now, but it is tempting in some cases. I'm just not willing to take the chance.

Vince22 - I've handled hundreds of fake and replica coins...
I'm not saying yours is but it resembles one.
When you show it on an angle it looks like it was put through a cast, not pressed.

@bullion-investor13, I think that is just the way the light is, but I could be wrong.
Wow! That is a crazy difference compared to the real coin. I was going to ask how they have 100% feedback, but I realized they do have 5 neg. and they are just covered up by the huge amount of sales they do.

It looks nice to me but I can't see it past AU-58. I bought a coin from them 2 years ago and can repeat what many say here......they are MASTERS at photography. My coin was listed as GemBU and was more like AU55 IMO. I can't ever understand how their feedback is that high....

GSC is a ripoff. My Two Cents. I cherried them for a rare walker variety and the coin they advertised as being BU was more like AU50.

All the straight on shot of this coin look MS as far as I can see. Nice fields, nice luster. If graded AU wouldn't completely surprise me but the grader gets a better look than I'm getting from here. Nice coin.

It could grade as high as MS-63. The luster seems to suggest a MS grade.

Quote: i don't see any luster on the coin... am I missing something The only thing you're missing is series-specific. What you see here is appropriate for Peace dollars. It's exactly what I'd expect to see from a slightly-circulated Peace. Both the planchet processing and striking process were geared more towards "just get the product out the door" than previous Mint efforts, and the bar is somewhat lower as a result.
