Let me just say that I don't usually dabble in this kind of gamble but these rolls looked old enough and unopened enough for me so I threw down $25 for the three. Whaddya think? I will for sure post what I find but how old do these rolls look to you all?

definitely been opened, top and middle were opened on right side and bottom was opened on the left

another typical "unsearched" auction

When I searched this seller's completed listings, I saw that they have sold a fair number of these "old rolls".

When I then searched what this seller has been bidding on and buying on ebay, I found they have recently bought several lots of wheat and Indian cents.

Based on these two facts, I'd say these are not likely to be "unsearched" rolls.

2 look obviously uncrimped, the top looks okay, but I doubt they are actually unsearched. BUT, I did notice that he made no claims about their contents - only the end coins. Perhaps they are alright. I would expect he's pulled out anything rare, but there should be some alright coins surely.

Yep, never mentioned that they were unsearched...

They could have a Wheat cent on both ends and all 1986's in between

Leary of un-searched rolls probably would have better luck getting a $25 box of cents from your local bank. At least you know they un-searched.

Always suspect of anything sold as unsearched... Especially when the seller appears to be someone involved in coins, as opposed to a seller that has no previous coin transactions and found a coffee can of wheaties and is just dumping them, etc. I know, me personally, could not leave those rolls unsearched :)

Most of his feedback for rolls like this are positive, but with comments like "Ok, not great, you get what you pay for, etc."

Rking, I've bought rolls like these a few years ago. Typical '40's to 50's with exactly 2 steelies in each roll. Yes these look older than what I purchased and I look forward to hearing what was inside.
Please tell us when they arrive.

I believe you can tell what is inside just by looking at the coins he is buying on ebay Lots of rolls of 1 year or another plus lots of avg older wheats

$25 for 3 rolls of wheats. It's almost criminal the way some sellers hawk these rolls implying that they are really old yet avoiding the term "unsearched." With that money you could've gotten a 2013 BU silver eagle instead of $5.00 worth of common date wheat pennies in old style wrappers that were probably bought off of e-Bay also.

That's what I think, but we'll have to wait to see what the OP receives.

ebay is a great place to buy coins, if you want to pay exactly what they are worth(or possibly a bit more). Its a competitive market place where bidders will consistently bid up valuable items. Hard to get a "bargain" on coins there, be it lots, unsearched rolls etc. I am always wary of this sort of auction.

I have found that yard sales, storage auctions, pawn shops, thrift stores and the like offer much better opportunities for finding great bargains on valuable coins. Its a bit more work, but that is where the great deals are to be had.

Just my 2 cents!

I'm going to be honest with you, I think you spent over $28 on $6 worth of coins.
I hope I'm wrong.
