I have bought a few times from JandM coins through their website.

Is it just me or do they mess up every time?

Haven't bought from them in a couple of years and even then it was just a couple of NCLT items to fill holes that I couldn't readily find cheaper elsewhere. Didn't have any problems though.

Most recently I bought a bunch of MS-63+ graded coins. They came in dirty plastic sleeves. Most of the coins had finger prints or black tarnished marks on them.

J and m usually has ok stuff! Pricing they are very competitive. They do however take forever to ship and if they shipped faster I would order more often.

Tell me about it. I ordered a 1923 un-circulated Peace dollar with them and the one I received is definitely not UNC. When I sent them an email they took a while to respond and I received a vague answer.

zxcccxz, I've made many purchases from J & M and found their shipping brutally SLOW. Prices are fairly high, but that usually is standard with brick & mortar stores. I've only purchase I.C.C.S. graded coins from them, so I can't comment on their raw coins.
Lately my favourite commercial numismatic store to purchase from has been Canadian, Coin and Currency.com.
Amazing website, finest I've ever had to navigate through. Easy to use and checkout is a breeze. Shipping is super fast and their selection of coins are second to none!! (way to go Mr. Bromberg!)

The last time I went to their shop in Vancouver, they took over 20 minutes to get some coins for me in the back and acted as though it was an imposition and in the way of their buying gold. You have to be buzzed in and out of their shop and no cell phones are allowed. Not exactly a friendly place. On the plus, they have free parking.

To be fair, the last time I ordered from them online, I got the unmodified $1 and $2 rolls for regular retail just before the price took off. They could have easily have said they were out of stock but I got the correct ones, which was pretty good.

I've never had problems with them... but I agree they are slow at shipping most times.

What I do is that I walk into the store and grade the coins myself.
Yes, some of their MS 63 are disputable. They MS 63s I bought from them were clearly uncirculated but had enough bag marks to be considered MS 60.

You know, the title of this thread is just wrong - it just draws out the venom... Why not ask everyone who has had a good experience with J&M?

Joe Iorio runs a pretty big business, travels to a lot of coin shows and while he does not haggle much, he is one of the nicest coin dealers out there, once you get to know him. At a coin show, he pays the BEST price for junk silver, other dealers go to Joe with their silver. Running a big shop, with employees, there are bound to be mistakes and screw-ups - it is human nature. As for grading, well that is only an opinion, and we have gone down that road before...

For the record, Joe sold me a very rare test token set, probably the finest set I had ever seen - for a very fair price, below his newspaper ad price, at a coin show. This was before I started doing coin shows - he did not know me at the time. He was extremely polite and behind that quiet demeanour lies an intelligent numismatist.

Try going to a coin show, get to know the dealers - you might not be so quick to condemn someone....

I would have been happy to call it that, but I have dealt with JandM about 10 times and the only time that was good was when they would have been accountable to feedback ratings on ebay.
I don't know Joe, but hiring people that make mistakes or don't care about the customers is bad business.

I did the same order. I had put in for 3 rolls of loonies and 3 rolls of toonies, but they cut it back to limit 1 of each, which was fine until I got a 2011 roll of loonies instead of 2012. They wouldn't cover for return shipping either...

Never had a problem with J&M. Never had a problem dealing with Joe.

In fact, I had problems with VERY few dealers, in person, on line or ebay. I can only recall 4 in years of collecting. I had more problems with restaurants than with coin dealers. I had problems with on line support people, banks, supermarket clerks (and patrons), movie goers and their cell phones, unguarded children and their guardians, internet trolls, Justin Bieber, weather forecast, my boss, etc. I call it "life"

54dollarcoin, are you referring to these?

http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/sho...aspx?sc=1758

(cut and paste the link into your browser, links directly from CCF spits you out at the PCGS home page)

Joe had them in ICCS holders. I cut them out, and had them placed in PCGS holders. Better protection in the long run, and I can show them in a PCGS showcase set, without them ever leaving my safety deposit box.

I sold them to him raw , came from the estate of a high ranking mint employee who retired to Vancouver Island. They were sold to a dealer friend of mine and I bought from him.
