Hi darge, Let me guess 2007 ?,i guess they are errors but they are more common than a well struck coin in 2007 unfortunately.

Hi appleangel07 how are you? It is a 2007, good picking. I haven't really looked at 50 cent pieces up until now. I have multiples of almost all other years but only had the one 2007 so I couldn't compare. Thanks for the information. BTW Should I just delete this thread now? Can this be done?

Caused by a badly worn die. Happens on other years as well. Keep a couple just for the fun of it, not really worth much more than 50c IMO, but you never know.

Hello nancyc and serial.
I have only just noticed the tiger like stripes on the neck of QE11. 4 or 5 faint stripes running almost horizontally across the neck at about the same angle as the 1985 - 1998 necklace sits. They seem to be on all IRB 20 and 50 cents up until 2012 but perhaps the lack of them on the 2012 is an anomaly. Anyone have a clue what I am talking about? Do I?

Good morning everyone, darge I know what you mean about the lines on Lizzie's neck ( age lines LOL )but can't help with the 2012 coins as I have'nt done any noodling for some time,i bought some unopened bags of 2012 coins but have'nt opened any or had a close look at them, someone thats been noodling heaps might have noticed this. Interested to know if it's common or not.

Hi appleangel07 it could be a 'poor' attempt at conveying age lines because this is done on the forehead and around the mouth and eyes too. Or I would say 'overdone' imo. Grossly. I haven't looked at IRB's work but if this is indicative it is far from impressive. Anyone else looked or have an opinion? Sometimes I just feel too braindead to investigate for myself. Thanks.

I'd say they're definitely meant to be age wrinkles, but will wear off very quickly as they are extremely faint, even on brand new coins. I can't even get them to show up in a picture.

Thanks nancyc I suspected I wouldn't be able to get them to show up in a picture. Anyone else think the number of lines is grossly overdone? There is reality and there is grotesque and Ian wasn't clear where they parted. He has made poor QE look like a bull mastiff. imo
