I've been seeing a lot of listings for randomly selected proof sets from 1960 to 2013. Also some for 1999-2008. Who buys these? Isn't it quite expected that you are going to get one with minimal value?

Overstock or items the dealer is stuck with I suppose. I have also noticed more "unopened" multiple set boxes or the older envelopes as well.
Rest in Peace

There is also the possibility there are some error coins in them.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say "minimal value"? Are you talking about sets that have been put in aftermarket holders or in the goverment issued packaging or both? Just asking....

By minimal value I assume he means that theyre the cheaper sets from those years and probably ones that dont look very good that would struggle to sell on their own. Buying mint sets sight unseen generally doesn't end with a happy buyer

rereading the OP, the auction is for a random (by the seller of course) proof set selected from those year ranges?

that would just be a dumb thing to do

One of the listings says that if you order multiple sets, they will not send you any duplicates. I think it was $15 BIN. So if I bought 54, would they send me every set from 1960 to now? That actually might not be a bad deal for $810.

If they have one of every one I would assume so, youd have to ask them though.

I would add that for 810 dollars I would rather see the sets individually. Most of the sight unseen ones are sold that way for a reason unless youve dealt with the seller before and theyll pick out the nicer ones for you
