Here's another from the family collection we are trying to learn more about! This is my favorite, I've never seen anything like it!

One one side is the skyline of Paris (so cool to see it pre-Eiffel Tower!), with the legend "L'AN 7 DE LA LIBERTE" at the bottom. I believe that would be 1795. Around the top I can read "VIVE LA VILL...." which I believe would be in full "VIVE LA VILLE DE PARIS" ("Long live the City of Paris").

On the other side is an urn with garlands and what looks like a little round pillared temple on top. Over this it reads "AMOR PATRIAE" and below the urn "IETTON".

I've found references to this coin in an 1820s numismatic guide on Google Books so I think my date and text is correct. However, that book was in French and my French is abysmal, and I haven't found anything more recent. I would love to know more about what this coin or token was issued for, if it had a spending value or was a commemorative token or medal, what its value would be today, and any other interesting information.

We're not looking specifically to sell it right now but would consider offers if anyone is looking to add this to their collection.

"Year 7 of Liberty" means 7 years into the French Revolution and after the end of absolute monarchy in France. Amor Patriae means something like "Love of Country".
There were jetons at this time period that had spending value, like the Monneron brothers' issues. This one does not look to me like something that would have been spent/exchanged. More curious, however, is the material used here. Any ideas?

City views on coins are always very popular, and fetch a premium at auction. This is a great find, and though I don't have more specifics to offer, I'm sure it's got some value.
