Was just wondering if there ever was a Fathers day or Mothers day coin that had Fathers Day or Mothers Day written on the coin, in Gold or silver? If not maybe it would be something for the RCM to ponder on for next year...

Haha that would be cool to give as a father's day gift, especially if your dad is an old time collector.

I don't think there's ever been one issued by the RCM.

Hmmm funny that, you would think it would be a big seller.

I don't think their was one released. From a collectors perspective I think it would be a nice piece to own but from the business side of RCM it wouldn't make sense. Instead in this years case they released the fishing coin close to Father's Day, which would work perfect for that occasion but also as a stand alone coin.

Why wouldn't it make sense? There are billions of Mothers and Fathers in the world I bet they would sell out very fast, well maybe not with 1 coin limit lol.

I have seen several "bullion" one ounce "coins" depicting all sorts of holidays including Mothers and Fathers Day...nothing "official" though.

Hmmm Mothers Day Centennial Commemorative Coin Act, the US mint will be making a commemorative 100 year coin in 2014!

9O09-UJIZG4

Quote:
Introduced by members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate is a bill authorizing the United States Mint to strike up to 400,000 Mother's Day Centennial Silver Dollars in 2014. The commemorative coins would be produced in both proof and uncirculated qualities to mark the 100th anniversary of the first national Mother's Day held in the United States.

@Northerncoins: Sorry, but that video is three years old and obsolete. The bill mentioned in the video was never passed by the US Congress and so no Mother's Day commemorative coin will be struck.

The US already has its two commemorative coin programs set for 2014 (the US only does two programs per year) and the Mother's Day coin referenced in the video is not one of them.

You'll have to keep looking!

PS Silvertowne produces silver rounds with a Mother's Day and Father's Day theme.
