I joined the site basically just for the "Classic U.S. Coins" section.
But I love old items, I love coins, and I love ancient greek history.
So I figured it was time to hold off on my next U.S. purchase and try an Ancient Greek coin.

I know absolutely nothing about these. I just want to buy something off ebay that I can admire for the age and history so maybe you can help me out. Links to ebay ads would be best, or if you can give me some kind of names of coins that I could look up that would be great, or just some advice when buying.

I would like to spend around $50 or $60 but I would be willing to spend $100 for the right coin. I want it to be greek and in the B.C. Silver preferred but are those much more expensive? And I want a design that is kind of iconic of ancient greece, which you can see well with pretty good details.

Any ideas? Thanks

Tall order that ..... Alexander the Great drachms are probably a good way to go as they do have a bit of recognition. Even after 2,300 years. For your price range the options are somewhat limited. A Ptolemaic AE from Egypt qualifies as 'Greek' and can be quite impressive too. The coins of Athens may be beyond what a beginner would care to spend.
Personally I am partial to the coinage of Syracuse Sicily. Believe it or not in many ways Sicily was more Greek than Greece.

I've been a collector of ancients for a long time now, but have yet to take the plunge into Greek coinage. This is because I know next to nothing about them and I'm afraid I'd buy something fake. The only thing I would say before buying anything is to pick a coin type that interests you and do research first. I agree with FR on the types to look for.

I suggest you go to
vcoins.com
and search on any Greek city name whatsoever. Try lots of city names and soon you will find you have seen thousands of genuine Greek coins with prices. If you find any type you like at a price that is not too much, do still another search on that city and type (i.e., a more specific search) to see if any similar examples are available, perhaps in better condition or at a better price. If you do that and have questions about what you found, ask us and we will help.

Here's another place to look; you can get an idea of the spectrum of coins and prices without having to search and click so much. The offerings are arranged most expensive to least expensive. Hovering over the coin will show you the price; clicking on it will take you to the details page.

Their current selection ranges from $1650 to $4.
