I'm pretty new to VAMS myself so I could very well be wrong.. but I believe that the grade and popularity has a lot to do with it... For instance I found out my 1878 8tf (raw AU) is a hot-50 VAM-8... But being in AU would bring no premium, while if it were a MS-65 it would. I'm pretty sure most of the more common VAMS, especially in lower grades hold no premium.
I'm not sure how the rarity scale figures into the equation. I know that the VAMS with extreme "wow" factor bring good premiums, such as "scarface" or even "hot lips".... AKA ones that can be easily identified by naked eye. But again, I could be wrong so I'm curious to hear more experienced opinions on the topic! On a side note.. That's pretty cool to have gotten a Morgan from a school lunch line!! Neat story!
