Wanted to share this 1904 Edward VII, Hong Kong One Cent because I think the toning is great!:) It is too bad about the scratch on the obverse but I still think it is a great piece.

Also, I am terrible at grading these coins so any opinions on grade would be appreciated!

That's nice. I do like the coins of Hong Kong.

It is absolutely surprising to me how many of these turn up in red uncirculated condition.
I have four of these, in about MS63.

Same thing for the Indian Quarter Anna. I have about a dozen of those, again all in about MS63, from Victoria through to George V1.

I got them all quite cheaply.
Is there a reason for them turning up so frequently? I have to admit, I don't know why.
I am just fortunate enough to have a few.

I like them too as these are from my motherland. I prefer the older ones when HK still a British colony!

It's puzzling that British Kings always were depicted crowned on coins in the former colonies and bare headed in the UK. In Canada this tradition seems to have waned under King Georges VI.

I think it was intentional that only the British see the King uncrowned (though there are exceptions like Edward VII British India rupees).
I think Edward VIII then promised some former colonies they could use an uncrowned portrait and George VI upheld it (which is why Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and maybe others show George VI uncrowned).
