Black Eye Dirt On Silver Dime - Coin Community Forum

sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 06/18/2013 08:36 am I don't think it is dirt, unfortunately. Try acetone, anyway, then distilled water. Most probably silver chloride or silver sulfide. Both are insoluble in water. The fact that it has occurred where it has, is just a matter of bad luck, and what corrosive agent has caused it.
