there are hundreds of Hard Times Tokens that were issued but this is the first I have seen of one with "Confederate States of America"

UPDATE

Quote from RedBook 2008 page 379

"An order to make cents for the COndeeracy was places with Robert Lovett Jr., an engraver and diesinker of Philadelphia....Lovett decided against delivering the coins and hid them, and the dies....The original dies ere purchased by John Haseltine, who used them to make restrikes. In 1960 the dies were copied and additional pieces were made by Robert Bashlow. These show die cracks and rust marks that distinguish them from earlier copies. They have very little numismatic value."

One variety that is shown for this coin that states "1 Cent" on the reverse for UNC is $120,000 and the restrickes in 1861 are prices between $9,000 and $42,500

Thanks for the info. I sure the 1/100 was used so there would be no confusion with the real deal.

The "1/100" Confederate Cent was issued around 1965 for the 100th anniversary of the Civil War, and was sold to collectors. It also came in other denominations and sizes, and I believe were also sold in sets. I have a number different of these. The Bashlow restrikes, referred to by graceoutcast, are true copies of the originals. This "1/100" is an entirely new die, made for collectors. These are NOT Hard Times Tokens, as they were issued decades after that period, by definition. The Bashlow restrikes DO have numismatic value, and generally sell in the $25 and up range, for the copper and brass (also issued in silver, which is rarer).
