Before looking at other's comments, I came to the conclusion that this is a real coin. It's had environmental damage, been in the ground or something (like a lot of you were saying). I agree it does have the appearance of a cast but the detail in general is too good in my opinion to be a cast.

Well, if you're going to sell it, see if you can get it in a genuine holder. I think it will do much better for you with a little bit of time and a couple of bucks invested. In a genuine holder, I think you're more likely to get more bidders on the Bay.

If it comes back not genuine, you can destroy it (or at least mark it properly) and do good for the numismatic community!

Seems to be missing the die chip connecting the third fold of the coat to the rim.

near the third fold of Lincoln's shirt where it meets his over coat, there should be a die crack connecting it to the rim.

Is there a "VDB" on Lincoln's shoulder?

I assume you are talking about the original post. It is too dark to tell. Mine clearly has no VDB.

I was not asking whether my coin is real. I was commenting on the authenticity of the coin from the original post. That coin does not appear to have a die crack which indicates it might be a fake.
