I picked up a couple 1/10th Liberty/eagle platinum rounds for a real solid price from fellow CCF member and that is the 1st pmz I have purchased since I grabbed 70 oz of silver or so a few months back only to turn and flip fast and loose a couple hundred as silver dropped 3 bucks per oz. the day after I bought it lol...

My thinking is since all that has ever been mined can fit snugly inside a racquetball court I figured it is a safe buy. If it keeps dropping I will keep adding one or two perhaps and cost average down. Big deal as I always feel like plat is hard to get at good price and seems to deviate away from spot and sellers take the-If I can't get X amount regardless of spot I will just keep in collection attitude.....

Congrats! Glad to hear that there's still somebody who's choosing their own direction. Others will arrive shortly and reiterate that PM spots have only
done about half of the dropping that they're going to do. This may very well (or not) be the case, but I compliment you for choosing your own path.

Yes bad buy, the trend is down and I hate to say it but you will see you could have waited.

Its really quite easy to know whether its good or bad, its all based on price action which is never wrong. Based on the price action, it was a bad purchase.

If your just trying to make money probably a bad buy, if you like them for yourself good buy. I really love the platinum eagle designs myself and have been hoping the price comes down but either way with the 1/10th premiums youve got some protection from the spot movement.

That may be true Yup but I have been doing real solid buying and selling vintage toys lately as well as the NASCAR an Nhra 1:24. I sell the cars more often but make less where as the vintage toys I often hit homers like a rare remco 1969 rocket set I found on bay short on 100 an added some red paint to rocket tip an applied stickers an set up an tool good pic an it sold at 299 best offer at 299. I used that money to but the plat....

My point I am on no hurry now to flip pmz in short-rather buying for son for his future an he's 8 months old so I ain't worried about a loss. As if I never sell you never lose nothing....

Thanks for the replie FF and Yup as I have always enjoyed both your collection pics an thoughts......

I think it's a great buy. We don't know where the price is going. Iran could set off a nuke in Tel Aviv tomorrow and the price could jump 25%. No one can forecast the movements of metals any more than they can the stock market.

sorry Berk but you are completely wrong but I expect that of the general public.

You can indeed determine where prices are going. I do it all the time.

Gold and Silver would be the ones that jump from that. Platinum isn't something people seek out for a SHTF type event

Platinum is the 'quiet achiever' of PM's.
It has the same order of value as gold, and shares the very wide industrial demand that silver does.
If your house burns down, the platinum coin will remain more or less undamaged, it's just a matter of finding it!

I have read about Pt plated gold coins, AND Au plated Pt coins!

I bought a 1 ounce Pt Koala for $500, some years ago.

Well I added 5 more or seven total and I grabbed a 20 roll of silver bullet slave queens as well. Bottom priced on bay is 800 a roll an I got at sub 600 so that should push plat an silver down even more to 1200 and 15 per oz lol....

Congrats! On a side note--for those who are truly stout of heart and who choose their own paths... 7/18 is the date when the US Mint is scheduled to release the new 1oz proof Platinum American Eagle.
