I have no idea what to make of this coin. A Wheat cent, 1953, no mint mark, and it has a gold color. I am new to the world of coins and am wondering how it got this gold color. It would also be nice to have a rough value on it. I have attached some pics.

Most likely gold plated. I picked up a 1909 VBD gold plated wheat for $3 a while ago. Mine looks similar but it has more of an even texture compared to the crude texture on this coin.

Looks more brassy to me by the pics.
If not plated it could be an improper alloy mix.

It's plated/coated. You can see the copper showing on the tops of the devices.
