I've had this for a little while now and have never weighed it until today. I had figured it was Struck Through Grease but when weighed it it weighs 4.4 grams. Now I'm wondering if it is thinner than normal because the reverse is also weak just opposite the date area. Whatcha think? Oh and my scales only do the .4 deal so its only accurate to the tenth, so no .45's.
They should weigh 4.67 grams. With circulation there could be a difference I would think. Nice FEC. Grade EF ? My scale is only to the tenths also, not hundreds place.
Quote: The reverse is rotated I took the pic so it was straight up and down.
Given how little obverse detail is usually found in that area - only the date - I don't think that really changes the argument one way or another. Am I seeing some sudden "weakness" on the reverse rim, starting at Noon and going clockwise? And does that correspond with what seems to be similar on the obverse, clockwise from 6:00?
Could be grease, could be a slightly tapered planchet, could be die faces not parallel. The weight is propably within tolerance for the issue. (4.67 grams +/- .259 grams) considering the precision of the scales used. But it is close.
