Hello everyone
Nice to meet you again.
Someone give me this coin
Please help me with your impressions about this bronze coin(genuine or fake?)
I found somewhere this description :
Sicily, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 B.C. BRONZE Dekaadrachm (14.10 g). Ca. 405-400 B.C. Charioteer driving galloping quadriga left, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer with wreath; below heavy exergual line, military harness, shield, greaves, cuirass, and Attic helmet, all before a horizontal spear. Reverse: Wreathed head of Arethusa left, wearing triple-pendant earring and necklace, surrounded by four dolphins; below neck truncation [EY-AINE]
My coin is :
Diam=30 mm
Weight=19,3 grams
I will appreciate all your answers
Thank you so much
Best regards
Ioan

Well if your coin is 5 grams more than the weight it's supposed to be, its more than likely fake.

Unfortuately a fake. Wrong metal probably brass, should be silver. Those file marks are a dead giveaway.

The dekadrachms of Syracuse are one of the most faked ancient Greek coins of all, both in ancient and modern times.
Book reference Sear 952 and 953 for the genuine coins:
"One of the most celebrated coins of Antiquity, Euainetos' dekadrachm was extensively imitated by the engravers of many mints in the Greek world."

This is a modern copy.

As far as I am aware, there is no such thing as a genuine "bronze dekadrachm". Dekadrachms are supposed to be silver. The only bronze or brass ones I have seen are modern tourist replicas.

Sorry.
