These are the coins my grandfather has and promises to will to me. Besides the one with the hole, I think these Carson City dollars are quite nice. They where going to give them to me as a present for graduating high school. But I guess if you end up with them in the end it really doesn't matter. Just wanted to share with everyone.
Ty

Awesome! Almost looks like a shadow of a VAM-4 on one of the 1890's.
Wicked nice.

Great Ty! I also inherited some Carson City Morgan's from my Mother (happily she hasn't died she just gave them to me). Seven of them were in GSA holders. I had to wait until age 57, so don't give up.

Can someone tell me a little more about this "tailbar" VAM-4 on the 1890's? I just dont really know what to look for.

The Tailbar is a huge gouge on 1890-CC's, as strong as anything actually struck into the coin. You'll know you have one, if you have one. There's no mistaking it. It's not known if the gouge was catastrophic or gradual, so I guess EDS versions might be out there. I've never heard of one.

Great looking original coins...the 86 O and 90 cc have a lot of stories to tell.
