Hi,
someone on an auction site is selling at considerable premium a standard finish CuNi 50 cent COA PROOF coin from 2012....

The version of the COA 50 cent in the 2012 proof set is gold-plated - so where did this cat find this standard finish CuNi - or should this be treated as suspect ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks....

I think it may be from a Baby Proof Set or a Wedding Proof Set

The wedding sets had a standard COA coin in them.

Here is an example http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Austra...41b3&_uhb=1.

Ah but of course..... I don't usually collect baby sets so I forgot about them as a source.... thanks for setting me straight flippy & appleangel07...

Be nice to have due to rarity but not sure about spending $120 or so which is also what the single coin was listed for...

thanks !

Many sellers are splitting up sets so it won't be long before you'll see it listed individually

PS: Same kind of thing happened in 2006 with CuNi Proof only avaliable from baby proof set as regular proof set had silver round coin

Ah yes I got the 2006 proof set for that nice round 50 center but neglected to consider also chasing down the probably rarer COA proof for that year....

thanks for the tip...

But...

This coin collecting - not to mention the banknotes - is a real never-ending pandora's box... I thought collectings LPs (records) was bad....

Getting every coin 1966-2013 is not easy - esp with all the multitude of new releases....
