Was going through an old briefcase ( that hasn't been used in years) found an nice unc Halifax ferry token tucked in the pocket. Not worth a lot but always nice to come across something in a drawer or closet you forgot you had . Anyone relate?

Well, hopefully one day we will. Until then, here's the story. A few weeks back I was going to see a fellow collector who was going to show me his 1921 nickel. Somewhere between his basement office and kitchen upstairs, he LOST it. He's going completely bonkers trying to find it. I've offered to come and help him look, but he won't allow that. (I can't imagine why not ? :)
Anyhow, one day someone will make a very interesting find. Just hope if it's not him, that they know how good of a find it is!

I'm looking for a 1 ounce gold reverse proof buffalo. I had it in the original box on the floor of my closet and I know I put it somewhere else because I thought that wasn't a safe place. I know it's here someplace and probably some day when I least expect it, the coin will show up. Not very smart though.

Quote: Somewhere between his basement office and kitchen upstairs, he LOST it. And this is why you shouldn't drink and do coins at the same time.

I've just sorted through a plastic bag containing about 100 zinclons brought back from a trip to the USA a few years ago, to which I have been adding occasional common modern US pennies given to me by works colleagues. I was planning to take it to LA on my next trip and dump the coins, but thought I ought to check them first for WAMs. I didn't find any - but out popped a 1941S Wheatie, missing from my US collection! Now how on earth did that get there?

Found it! Duh. I was looking for it in the first place because I wanted to put it in my safe. Turned out I apparently had already done so.

When I was a kid an eccentric old Aunt passed away and as we were cleaning out her home (she was a hoarder...) we started finding paper money hidden in books and other places. We then started finding coins in jars hidden in closets, under floorboards, window seats etc.
I was too young to realize any collector's value of the stuff or even recognize what type of coins they were but since it was the mid 1960's at the time and she had been infirm for years, it is probable that the coins were all silver. She had lived through 2 world wars and the Great Depression so there may well have been some gold coins as well. How I wish I would have kept all that...
