I tried over in the world coin section to get some information about this set with no luck, so I thought I would try in here.
Does anyone have any information about this set?
- In maroon/red velvet box.
- Satin insert describing the set.
- 4 silver pied-forts, 30 yuan, winter olympics.
- 1 COA card from the company that marketed the set.
- 4 booklets issued from the Chinese authorities, one for each pied-fort:

Didn't get any feedback from several places including here, so I grunted it out via extensive web-search and discussions with collectors/dealers and identified the item:
-Chinese 1980 Winter Olympic 4 pc. Pied fort set in silver (500 each pied fort minted)?
- Contains 4 pied forts representing:
* Biathalon
* Speed skating
* Downhill skiing
* Figure skating

-All 4 pied forts are with the 30 Yuan denomination. All four pied forts are encapsulated.
- The pied forts are housed in a ruby red box with a white satin insert on the top lid which states " 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Pied fort Set, Struck by the China Mint, in the Peoples Republic of China.
- The following documentation is also provided:
* One COA from the ICC Company dated July 1980.
* Four Chinese issued booklets detailing the commemorative pied forts, one for each pied fort.

Similar item sold at Heritage Auctions Jan 2-3 World & Ancient Coins Signature Auction in New York #3016, LOT # 23705 for $17,250.00. A similar item, perhaps the same set, sold one year earlier at Heritage for $16,100. All values include the BP.
