Bobby & Susan,

I'm not sure if you're interested but just in case here's an FYI.

I just finished playing with a piece of script from snap.com that lets you preview a link in a small inset window. I've been using it for about a month now to see if it wreaks havoc with my site but knock on wood nothing negative yet. It doesn't seem to work with all my sites tools but that may be because of the CSS modules I'm using.

In any case, here's a sample from my links page on what it would look like. http://typesets.wikidot.com/interesting-links

If you want me to PM the script code let me know

Regards,
Ken

Using portable Firefox 2.0.0.3 I see them. I like it.

Yep, works in Firefox.

They are a huge Internet no-no. They are no better than pop-ups. They intrude into the users space without being requested. While you like them Topher, most of the Internet will not.

Let's be honest here. What can you see in that little window that could possibly make you decide to click or not click?

Ken, I really do appreciate the suggestion though, keep 'em coming! However this is something that will not be implemented here.

First thing I do when a website rolls these out is figure out how to turn them off. I want to be able to hover over a list of links without bubbles popping up in my way. IMHO, very cool for the programmer, very annoying for the end user.

Not a problem and great feedback. I completely understand and see how these are no different than pop-ups.

Fortunately, my site has a lot less traffic so I get to experiment on some less visited pages without to many repercussions and can switch back to old formats without too many people noticing.

Never thought of it that way. Good point.
