A back burner coin I wanted to get for my 1800's typeset was a 3 cent nickel, and decided on 100 years before the birth year of my mother to be the date I would get. With the silver price taking a nosedive, thereby cooling my interest in completing my 1932-1964 quarters and halves set until the dust settles a bit more, I decided scratch that itch. I knew I stood a good chance of buying it from my LCS when I made a trip there Friday, and I did see one there. However, I wanted to see if that
locally based on-line guy, who I bought an
1887 IHC from, had one first. He did, the price was right ($25), and I contacted him on Friday expressing my interest in the coin and my desire to meet in person that afternoon. He was out of town, and would be able to check that he had the coin today, giving me time between now and then to browse the rest of his inventory and
find another gem. We met at his bank at 1:00pm to make the pleasant exchange. Here's the nickel:
