I agree with ALL of what Ancientnoob and echizento have to say.
These coins are a bit impossible, with the amount of 'patina' they currently have on them.
Nevertheless, I would have bought them uncleaned for $26.
THEN I would have taken the risk, and brushed them with a soft brass wire brush, proceeding slowly to find what may be underneath all of that gunk. May be a lot of patient fine picking on some of them, after an initial brushing.
Just one or two nice coins out of that lot could well go towards paying for the rest of them.
If it turned out that 10 or so lesser condition coins may result, you should still be ahead for $26.
I would expect that most of these coins would have found their way into my 'rat' ancient coin collection, but I would also live in the hope that three or four of them may find their way into my formal collection. I would try to identify ALL of them. Quite often, with lots such as this one, you get lots of coins of only two or three Emperors, and that makes identification easier.
Numismatic adventures are made of this sort of stuff.
