Hello,

I purchased this coin at a show a few years ago and I'm not sure on the grade or if it's an Obv. 3 or Obv. 4. Also, I've never submitted a coin for certification, and I was interested in opinions on whether this was nice enough to be sent in to ICCS. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

OBV4
Note the flat spot on the chin, the smooth transition from forehead to crown, and the absence of tool mark on the ribbon.

VG10 at least, may make F12 but IMO too much wear on the reverse crown and leaves.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Looks like DBM taught me another lesson..."Don't just look at the pages..read them too"

Thanks DBM! I ordered the 2012 Charlton catalog however I've not had much luck finding information on this variety online while I'm waiting for my order. I don't know that much about Canadian 50 cent pieces, I purchased this in a deal that included an 1870 Newfoundland half and an 1872 Newfoundland 5 cents.
