Penny Guy Pillar of the Community United States 531 Posts	Posted 07/07/2013 02:01 am I received this from an ANA Summer Seminar instructor, it's a pressing from Daniel W. Holmes, Jr of one of his 1857 small date cents. Under magnification you can even see some of the engravers tool marks. For those not familiar with this type of exonumia large cent collectors will make this type of pressing from their coins using aluminum foil and a notary public type of hand press. Ben Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 4208 Posts	Posted 07/07/2013 3:02 pm Ive done this with very fragile roman coins successfully. Easiest way was to set it on something like Playdoh, covered by foil, then put foil over it, another bit of playdoh and press down with a book over it. Coin comes out unharmed, deep imprint on the foil. You can also impress it with your fingers. I was trying to make negatives of my nicer coins too, so I used oven baking clay and made a little die of sorts. Its nice becuase you see all coins as one colour all over.
