ol' Wash took a nasty blow to the cheek there. I wouldn't put it above 64 for that alone, but since you said I'd be surprised, I'm guessing NGC said MS65

From what you said, MS 65. My personal opinion, MS 63 and no higher.

I see everyone is guessing between 63-65. here is the surprise,

1952-D-Washington-Quarter

the large hit on the cheek is hard to see without magnification, but still overgraded by a point IMO!

How it got that grade with all those face hits, I'll never understand.

That really hurts NGC's credibility I think. MS-63 I think my 64 but that hit on the cheek is bad.

An MS-63 coin in a 66 holder, that was a gift.

I never buy NGC Washington quarters. Not out of a lack of trying, but just because they are always a point off. Sometimes more. I find their grading tends to be off with Ikes as well. This coin in my opinion deserves nothing more than an MS-64 and I doubt it would get top 64 money.

I have several PCGS coins that are overgraded as well. don't judge a company by one or two mistakes and please don't drink so much PCGS kool aid

@jayman1970. You didn't have to get personal re: koolaid. So, what is the grade of the coin then? It's not an MS-66. Even if NGC says its so. NGC is sometimes referred to in the industry as the "dealers little lie", why is that? I didn't make it up. This 52-D is an MS-63 maybe a 4. Not a 5 and certainly not a 6.

Buy the coin not the holder. I would toss it up on ebay and let a sucker buy it.
