Hi, I am new here and sadly am not versed in coins. My father left me this coin. I have been looking at pictures of old coins but haven't seen one just like it. I have no idea if it's even real. Any help of what kind it is, or even if it looks real would be appreciated. Thanks :)

to the community You have come to the right place to have you coin ID. Your coin appears to be one of the Ptolemy's. They were the rulers of Egypt after Alexander the Great took it over. One of our Greek experts should be able to give you a better idea which ruler it is.

irelynn: to the CCF! From the pictures, bit hard to tell if this coin may be a copy, or not. Take it to a pharmacist, talk very nicely to them, and get it accurately weighed. Report back here with your findings.

We need weight and diameter but its supposed to be a Tyre Shekel. One of the thirty pieces of silver believed to be they type used to pay Judas for Jesus' whereabouts.

Hi everyone, Thank you for your help. :) I will have it weighed and report back soon. Just knowing what is supposed to be, real or not, is nice to know.

It is a cast fake of a Shekel of Tyre. Hendin F918.6, which he lists as a fake Shekel of Tyre in his "Not Kosher". Here is an identical version from a fake database. Regards, Martin
