Personally I try to stay away from currency with damage. I've learned the hard way that cheap is often not cheap enough.

I think you did OK on the 1917 Series $1. The tear is distracting but they don't come much cheaper than $15. I personally I would have passed on the Hawaii $1 because it is really not that much more to get one in decent condition.

Thanks :) It's my first HAWAII bill and the cheapest on ebay at the time. However, I agree with you!

Try to stay away from damaged bills unless they are a valuable variety. The Hawaii is the common SC block. Get some of the currency literature and read.

@GoldenChest

They were Best Offer auctions. He submitted the offers stated above and the sellers accepted them.

Personally I agree with Joe, as far as collecting currency goes, I try to only spend money on non damaged notes. Tears a really an eye sore IMO but a note is a note. Id rather have them then nothing!

Thanks KK and Jenger for the opinions! Goldenchest, yes I did make offers and they were accepted! Always helpful to use that option. I guess I can always resell if I don't like them. Plus, they are my first examples per variety, so I am pretty satisfied.
