I just had a question about buying $500 and $1,000 Federal Reserve notes, of the Series 1934 or 1934A. I'm not interested in a Series 1928. I was just wondering, about how much do you pay for a decent $500 and $1,000 FRN of the two series' I mentioned? (I only want one of each denomination. NOT one of each Series) I mean, with nice, pointy corners and not too dark of paper. I have a $500 bill of Series 1934A, that I bought off ebay for $725 + $5 shipping about ten years ago or more, but I want to upgrade to something a little better.(Quite frankly, I'd like to upgrade to a better "small head" $50 bill as well, as I hesitated before putting a pre-Series 1996 $50 bill away when the big head $50s started coming out, and got stuck with a nice $50, but not greatest $50 bill of the small head type. My $500 bill is not in that bad of shape either, but I don't have the equipment to post a picture. Anyway, another thing I noticed about my $500 bill, compared to the more recent "small head" bills that I kept, from pre-Series 1996 when they first stated going to the "big head" bills the $500 is a lot darker of a paper and ink than those pre 1996 bills, but I also notice the same thing in Seies 1976 $2 bills, and $1 Silver Certificates, being darker ink and paper. So, is this a common thing?
