Hello again!

Two 5 cent pieces from the lovely province of Newfoundland. Very shiny - does this mean they have been cleaned or polished?
Any thoughts as to grade or value would be appreciated.
Regards,

They do appear cleaned to me. It seems that quite a few Newfies from this era were cleaned. Its what I normally come across here in the states. Great coins tho! Gotta love the Canadian Provinces

Hi Retired07.. Nice NFLD coins.

I'm a collector of all NFLD coinage, great series, your 1929 looks 'cleaned' to me you can see the 'scatches'.

The 1943 fi ve cents looks between EF and AU to me... nice one.

Retired glad you could join us. On the 29 it appears to have had some ugly toning brushed off to make it shiny you can see around the devices some remaining toning left. Unfortunately not much above bullion. The 43 different story it has nice fields with a bit of wear and could make AU which lists in trends at 12.00,it would begin a nice collection. My thanks to you as I never paid much attention to the obverse used on the 43 but after looking at yours for awhile I've found a new obverse I want to collect.

Thank you all for your insights and comments. Learned a new meaning for the word "device" today!
