Hi jjnsao and welcome to the Forum!

For US coins I'd suggest you buy one of the great monthly coin magazines that you're really lucky to have in the USA, which always have a catalogue section with values. For foreign coins it's a bit harder - there are some good catalogues, but they're pretty expensive, though you may be able to find one in your local library.

You can of course post photos of your coins on this forum and we'll have great fun trying to id and value them!

If you know a reliable local dealer, you can always take the coins in to his/her shop for an appraisal - though you should take care, as there are a few rogues in the business and some whose numismatic knowledge is confined to a very specialized area.

Another good idea is to look on E-bay and see what similar coins are selling for - although please bear in mind that condition is of supreme importance - there are plenty of coins that sell for vast sums in mint state and are only worth bullion value if badly worn!

Are you looking to sell or do you just want to find out what they're worth?

1---Welcome to CCF!
2---This website might get you started in determining ballpark values on some of your US coins --- http://www.coinstudy.com
3---For world coins, the "Standard Catalog of World Coins" books published by Krause Publications are good basic reference books.
They put out one volume each for the 1600's, 1700's, 1800's,1900's and 2001 to Present.
4---Researching "Sold Listings" in ebay will show you what kind of inflated prices people are willing to pay for specific coins these days.

@jbuck

Sorry I was not in any way intending to buy his coins but re-reading my post I realized how it came across as that.

Take them to any dealer and ask what he'll give you for them right now. Then you can assume they're worth at least twice that. ;)

You might consider investing in a copy of the Red Book or another catalogue.

It is a sad fact that the world coins in the US for the most part are sold in the .25¢ .50¢ bucket on the counter of the local coin stores. Unless they are silver or are of Historic interest.
I am a token collector not into coins but Have accumulated enough world coins that this edition of Krauses world price catalog was worth the money. was $14.95 instead of $65.00 http://www.hamiltonbook.com/product...=Find+%C2%BB

Do not worry, I knew you were not. I was just being proactive. My concern was if jjnsao's answer was "yes" then others might take that the wrong way and make offers.

Could you drop a few names here? Which is the best for US silver?
