Always sad to hear news like this especially under such dreadful circumstances.
Never met or had dealings with him but wish I had.
Any UK members knew him?

Yes, very sad to hear news like this. I wonder, though, since he ran his coin and medal business from his home, if he was murdered while his house was being burglarized. The article reports that the police have a suspect in custody for the murder, but makes no reference to the house being broken into. Irregardless of the circumstances, a terribly sad story.

Its a sad world we live in. Not very smart to do your dealings out of your house. It kind of makes your house a target

Off topic, How does someone who operates from home, doesn't travel, doesn't do coin fairs (shows), doesn't have the internet, run a coin business? Buys from ads and has people bring them by his home? Dealer come by his home to sell him things? Just seems odd.

I didn't deal with hiim and it's very sad news indeed. Good that they have caught the likely perpetrator.

He may have went to shows to buy - my reading of it was that he didn't sell at shows. There is no mention of auctions - another strong contender for purchasing an inventory.

I remember back in the 1980's buying a lot of coins from a dealer called Don McRae who sold everything via carefully described typed up A4 pages - that was it - no photos back then. Alas he has also passed on - as so many of the dealers I used to buy from have. :(

Tragic news. Too bad he wasn't allowed to be armed to protect himself.
