Growing up in the latter half of the 20th century, gold coins may have caught my imagination in story books, but silver coinage was the stuff of daily life. Finding a shiny silver dime or, heck, a quarter? That was a pretty big deal way back then. For someone who grew up enjoying US coins, these early impressions absolutely stayed with me, and the pleasure I derive from collecting silver today is very much a part of that early experience.
