I recently got this coin which is a 5 francs from the 2nd year of the issue after the independence of Belgium from the Netherlands.
It is a position A where the lettering facing the reverse.

Do you think its VF ? there is a big difference in value if it is VF vs less than VF. It weighs 24.77 and some of the edge lettering has faded away. However all the details still seems to be intact.

Coin looks like a strong VF but details grade. It appears to have been cleaned at some point.

Forgot to add that this would be by U.S. grading standards. European standards are a bit tougher.

Thank you, could you elaborate little bit about the meaning of details ? Do you mean that some of the details have been lost though it is very fine ?

The amount of details remaining on the coin place it in the VF category. Definitely cleaned so you would expect to receive lees for this coin than for an uncleaned, or at least one not so vigorously cleaned, coin in VF condition.

The A position is only slightly more frequent than the B. Despite its original mintage of 1,125,666 (A+B) it is less common as only 5.5% is left. Because of about 90 years of circulation, the grade dependence of its value is quite high.
As 'fine' it would sell for $100 or less. As VF it may sell north of $300.

As IndianGoldEagle mentions, European grading standards are tougher. It may be difficult to find a buyer for $300 or more.

Thank you Everyone. I paid $125 which is probably on the higher side I guess and it was an impulse buy. What gave a way it has been cleaned ? I can see few lines with my Loupe. I don't think its abrasive cleaning. What kind of cleaning you think have done on this coin ? I am still learning so lot of questions :)

Color and in your edge view the surface was very reflective. Signs of a cleaning. Most likely this one was hit with Baking Soda and water.
