I'm searching through a collection my father in law just gave me, and there is a card with a quarter in it that has no mint mark, and he wrote on the card "rare."

I tried google and the search function here, so please forgive the ignorant question. Is it?

It should have a P or D on it so that's very interesting!

If you have a picture that would be great.

I just found some articles through the search engine here. I've got a great digital camers (I use it for car parts mostly). It should be fun trying to photograph something that small. Thanks for the welcome!

It looks like a very weak strike on obverse. Or it could be a greese filled die. the dies are the things used to make the coins.

I agree with Graceoutcast in that it is a Grease Filled Die. there are collectors that do collect them and some may Even pay a premium for it but you have to find the person.
good luck
with your search
Gary too
