Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a set of two 1/4 and 1/2 1904 Louisiana gold tokens. I found references to them in the World Standard Catalogue but theres no information regarding their composition.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the Fineness of the tokens is?

Any help would be great!

These gold tokens were the brainchild of numismatist Farran Zerbe, who commissioned the manufacture of these specifically for the intent of marketing them at the L-P Expo in a further effort to promote the hobby, beyond the exposure that the U.S. Mint provided with the release of the gold Commemorative Jefferson & McKinley Dollars. There are a number of different varieties of each gold token denomination, some of which are considered rare. They are cataloged in a specific reference, the title of which eludes me at the moment, which was authored by the late Robert L. Henderschott(1898-2005). IIRC, the composition is high grade gold, likely on the order of .900 fine.
