I have been researching Conder Token and British Provence token reference books and came across this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Token-Boo...e+token+book

Can anyone tell me more about this book? Is it any good?

I have it. It's certainly an expansion and improvement over what I had been using, the old 1970 Seaby catalogue, but it does have some drawbacks. It uses the Dalton & Hamer numbering system for Conders, but for token types which have a bewildering array of varieties and subvarieties (each with their own D&H number), just general statistics are given with a rather unhelpful comment such as "7 varieties known"; it isn't much use in trying to work out which exact variety you own. Of course, it's only a single volume, covering a very broad period of token issuance (1600-1900), so a little corner-cutting is only to be expected.

If "comprehensive" is what you need most in a catalogue, then don't buy this book. But if "general guide" is all you need, then it is sufficient.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Schwer price guide is about 30 years old, so obviously the prices are out, but it follows D&H numbering and is good for identifying varieties.

Not too hard to find, and relatively cheap.

I also have this book and I personally find it very useful as a quick reference. It incorporates pretty much all of the known 17th-19th century tokens in one single volume.

However, as Sap mentioned it does have some drawbacks in that only the general issue is detailed, not all of the varieties and variations of each token.

On the plus side, it does offer some guide of current market value.

For quick reference, I find this book invaluable
